Height Reduction?

Does anyone know if there's such a thing as height reduction surgery or any way to make myself shorter?

I'm MTF and I'm 6'2. I'm 16 and still growing. I'm wondering if there's a way to stop myself growing & if there will be a way to make myself not really really tall?

Thanks

I doubt it, Alice. If there is, its probably hugely complicated and expensive, not to mention risky.

However, if you do find a surgeon, I'll take your donated bone parts, and maybe they could do a height addition thingy for me.

One girls excess is another girls "just right."

They actually do have a very painful surgery that can increase ones height. They do it some Asian countries to men who are short bc height is status in some of those places. Basically they use a device that "spreads" the bones from end to end to lengthen them and make small cuts in them to leave a gap that will eventually grow back. As I said, it is a long, painful process.

Thanks, Ashley. I think I'll keep shopping in the petites section. ;)

It exists but you won't be eligible - plus it is extrenely expensive - my son-in-law was born with one leg shorter - had the surgery on his shorter leg at age 24 - suffered for 18 months with this bird cage looking 'bone streatcher". It did not work.

I was 6'- 2" and now am slightly less tall(old age slightly shrinks you) - BUT I live full time as a woman. Sure sometimes I startle people a little but not often. I don't get read, that is for sure. Lotta tall women out there now. Women come up to me and say "I wish I had your height."

My height made me give up any idea of transitioning for decades - finally I just didn't care and had to transition. Turned out not to be a problem.

I hope this helps.

Hi Bodriz :)

Now just relax hon :) Height reduction surgery is not an option you should consider even if it did exist. Many natal women are taller than you. Height is not the issue honey :) My ex-wife was 6 feet tall.

Relax about your height.. OK? I know a transwoman who is 6'5'' and you know what? She is all woman!!!

What do you mean, height reduction surgery exists? Are you kidding. I want to know more about this, any more information?

it does exist. they cut out a part of the legbone. a belgian sport motorbiker had it done because he was to tall for the sport. (whats it called? dirtbikes?)

Well if that's true, do you know if they can make my feet smaller by cutting some of the bones in the middle of the foot to make it shorter, then make the bones thinner as well by shaving some off to make it thinner or something to that nature. Also I would also want to know if they could do the same to the hands. Seriosly, does anyone know?

If you have hundreds of thousands of dollars - you can probably find someone to try the surgery. I already posted my son-in-law tried itb and suffered a long time. It did not work, and cost a fortune.

The foot surgery - Google to see how many bones are in your foot. Bones can be shortened but what about ligiments, muscles, nerves and vessels? Not a simple thing.

Spend all your money, and hope it works? Not practical in my opinion.

Alice,

I would like you to google the name: "Amazon Eve" This will put your height concern into perspective. At 6'8" she is the tallest super model in the world. And she beautiful. Incidentally, she and I have the same shoe size: 14B

Check her out.

I am 6'3... and all the time I see women taller than I am. I went to HS with a girl who was at least 6'5 if not taller. If you're tall embrace it, rock it,make it work. I used to hate my height but now I love it. I wouldn't want to be any taller than I am now but I don't mind being my height. Personally I like being tall now and there are many people who find tall women attractive. Probably thanks to the professional modeling industry... the only good side effect of that industry I suppose. There is nothing wrong with being tall. Find a way to love it and you won't regret it. I am sure you are beautiful at 6'2, just as you would be a beautiful 5'8 or 6'8. Personally I think 6'2 is a great height. Embrace it and don't be too self conscious. :) And if you are still set on a height reduction surgery well... I can only hope for you the best. Even if it did exist though I doubt it would take off more than an inch, if that. And as others have mentioned it would be extremely expensive, painful, and require a lot of recovery time. It would also have to be extremely invasive and I would imagine pose a considerable health risk during recovery. Bone infections are hard to get rid of... So, instead of hating your height embrace it, love it, rock it. 6'2 isn't bad at all. :)

I recall a British woman having height reduction surgery years back. They cut out sections of leg bone from both above and below her knees. It was successful but left her looking absurd - they took out so much bone her hands swung below her knees!

Any surgery that involves removing bones and patching them back together in a fashion not intended is dangerous - very dangerous!

Aside from the expense and the pain, even over looking the relatively small success rate go straight to a simple fact - Within the marrow of the bone there is a fatty substance that if it gets into the blood stream acts as any free floating blood clot - moving into the lungs, heart or brain and causing heart attack, stroke or death.

It is one of the reasons that some of the elderly die from a broken hip, one of my best friend's mother died this way only a couple of weeks after breaking her hip.

I was at one point 6'4" tall, I am nearly 60 and I may be a fraction shorter now but I have no trouble passing - height is not the issue - confidence is!

Love ya,

Sally

wow! hacking up bones? Ugh! you're height has nothing, repeat NOTHING to do with your ability to pass. If you are a woman, if you act like a woman, talk like a woman, you'll be seen as a woman, whether you are 5 feet tall or 6 and a half. Seriously contemplating cutting your leg bones to be shorter reeks of body image issues more than transsexualism. Sorry, that's my opinion. A Transsexual seeks to have a female body, not a perfect idealized one.

Well, first of all @KymmieL YOU SAID IT NOT ME. lol. Glad you got the job, and that you are working AGAIN,GIRL. See, just reverse two little words and we wouldn’t need this conversation.     I think I have mentioned we have a new girl working at the store.  She has been very reluctant to be around people.  Apparently, the first time in public didn’t go well.  Anyway, her mother brought her to work today, and after I got her going on a work assignment her mother came to me and talked to me and thanked me for helping her daughter.  It was a very nice conversation.  Then before I left work, I gave her some PFLAG things to give to her mother.  And I told her if she, her girlfriend and or mom ever wanted to attend a welcoming church they should come to my church.  Anyway, she is coming out of her shell and seems to be doing great.  From very timid to happy and smiling.

Well, one of my friends is in our defense force here.  She's trans.  Small.  Adorable.  Able to hit a soda can at 800 yards in any weather.  I'd say that's effective and lethal enough.  I'd be interested to know how many soldiers can do that...

having had no boy friends or girl friends, i hated my body so much, I finally stopped eating and it did not matter if it was night or day, i ended up in hospital, i had self harmed but did not want to talk about it. Over time, like all things i opened up but was still frightened, because it did not make sense, for me i wanted to try and understand, after chromosome tests and psychometric and various other tests, i was still no closer to confronting and dealing with the internal torture, I knew what it was not but eventually another hospital stay and after the reports of the first and second episode, it was decided i best confront my thoughts. Going to the gender id clinic and meeting the psychiatrist from hell. I thought it odd that someone whom worked in a maximum secure mental health hospital, should work in a gender id clinic, sometimes i thought she was still at the main job, a real control freak.

I used prescription strength Minoxidil and Finasteride to fill in some spots that had thinned over the years with very good results. You can do an online physician's consult through sites like Hers and Hims if interested in potentially trying that.

Hi! I was wondering if you could tell me how it went with minoxidil and finasteride. I tried it for 6 months and saw some results but was told to stop it.

Hi! Has anyone dealt with hair loss. I have two big patches of alopecia areata and are getting treatment for it with good response to the treatment but I’m noticing a general hair loss as I’m trying to grow my hair out. I’m trying high dose Biotin but haven’t seen much success. Anyone can relate? Has any suggestions.  ps. I know large dose biotin increases your estrogen blood results (inaccurately) but I’m ok with that since I’m not in a high dose as is.

Hi Andea welcome to the forums.  I’m in a similar position. Although married to queer guy, the struggles with not just acceptance but full support from my partner has been difficult to navigate.  I see you are very aware of the time it takes to process and “get on board” with all of it. (Heck even with some of it) I had to stick to my convictions about who I am and believe in my agency so I started hrt right away at a small dosage “just to see how I felt on it. And just starting it felt like a huge step in the right direction.  HRT helped me gain a lot of confidence to continue my path.  I kept reminding myself to allow my partner time to process all of it. And my patience has paid off. At first it seemed (to me) that my partner would not get to the point where we would have a chance to remain together.  I’ve been on HRT for 18 months and we’ve had ups and downs but we remain open and we have difficult conversations. We had a huge super honest conversation about how we both felt (a year into HRT) and it took us to a whole new level of closeness. We’re still working on it all but just getting to this point feels reassuring.  And to be honest I’m going for a more androgynous version of myself (as of now) but have had many thoughts about top and bottom surgery. I’m 50 so I’m not sure that’s in the cards for me at this point.   if you’d like to chat some more, I’d love to keep a conversation going with you  I hope you’re doing well  hugs
