I was thinking...since I am curly-haired...is it possible to turn a curly hair to a spiky male hairstyle? I'm blocked here...can anyone tell me what haircuts are possible to get for a curly haired FTM like me?

I'm not sure what kind of spiky hair you're looking for, but I do know that for curly hair, you can get it straightened. My neice used to straighten mine for me when I had longer hair. I would imagine that after that, you can go for the style you're looking for.

I have super curly hair. I just recently got a new haircut that's kind of faux hawk-esque - check out my thread below called 2 months on T update, it has a couple pictures.

What I really would like to know is how can a female hair be cut into a male hairstyle?

Looking awesome...how did you got that one?

Take a look here for some ideas: http://menshair.about.com/od/picturegalleries/ig/Curly-Styles/curly01.htm

My hair texture has changed a little since I started Testosterone, but hair is hair. The possibilities for styling nowadays are unlimited. Just go to a real barber, tell them you're looking for something boyish. They'll know what to do. Of course, bringing a picture of something you like will help them, but I always just leave it up to them if I go. I say "Short" and if they can't figure out what that means, I try another place.

My hair is not VERY curly, but has an annoying curve to it. That's why I keep it very short. I've never been one to care about how my hair looks, though...too much trouble.

Things you may want to keep in mind if you need some hair tips though:

Face shape vs. hair style

Hair color vs. skin color

Working with your hair's natural movement.

Good luck.

I didn't like any of those hairstyles..I'm looking for ways on how to get any hairstyle I like even if I am curly...I heard curly haired FTM's can't have it spiked or anything

Any attempt I've had at trying to spike my hair failed hard. I have wavy hair that refuses to budge, so I have to settle for messing with the front part of it until I like the results. <_<

I've never spiked my hair, no affinity for gel since I did dance when I was a kid and was always gelled up.

You'd be surprised what answers you can get from talking to people. I had a friend in a class recently with dreds. A random guy came up to him and told him he'd been thinking of dreds and was unsure how to go about it. He was happy to help.

My hair is hard to tame, curly hair is like that. But anyone with curly hair will have the same issues. Barbers and hairstylists DO actually have training. They can help you with taming your hair texture. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of experience with that, so I can be of no more help.

I have hair that is awkwardly wavy, so I just straighten it, but the daily routine of doing so is getting very old (I have to shower daily, my hair is naturally very oily). Then again I've never really gone particularly short (it's shorter but long enough where they can't use a razor to get the desired cut, so about an inch+), which I am thinking about changing. Wavy hair isn't bad when kept shorter and I'd rather just be able to shower and go without the extra 15 minutes it takes to straighten it.

Life's a lot easier when you can just rock what you've got.

What a weekend.  I managed to get some time away from home Friday night, just hanging out with my friends.  I spend a lot of time watching the kids, since my GF is still gone.  Two of my partners are pregnant...at the same time.  They're in 3rd trimester now, which means more of their chores are becoming mine to handle.     Its interesting how pregnancy changes a woman's life.  I remember when GF was pregnant, she was mostly unaffected during the first 7 months.  During the last 4 to 6 weeks, she would mostly hibernate, being awake as little as 4 hours a day.  My other partners aren't quite as extreme as that, but I expect I'll be in charge of domestic life pretty soon.    Meanwhile, my husband is busy with new responsibilities.  He inherited a house in the nearby city recently, but was unable to sell it or do much with it because it is in a neighborhood with a Homeowner's Association.  Apparently before she left, GF engineered a kind of coup.  There was a vote of No Confidence in the president and two other directors of the HOA.  They were removed, and my husband was elected to one of the empty spots.  Even though he doesn't live there.    I guess two of my stepkids are moving out this summer.  My eldest stepson has been working for my husband since he graduated high school.  He's been my husband's secretary at work, and his aide/driver for county stuff.  He's going to attend tech school later this year, on scholarship from my husband's company.  His younger sister graduates next month, and she's going to take over her brother's duties.  The two of them are going to live together in the house in the city, "renting" it from my husband.  They've agreed to be responsible for bills and property tax there.   We're nowhere close to having an empty nest, but the first two kids preparing to leave is bittersweet.  I've watched them grow up over the last few years.  I'm young enough I don't see myself as a real parent to teenagers, but I'm definitely going to feel it when they move out

I've been saying a variant of this for years.  No more stalls, only individual omni-gender locking bathrooms.  Better for everybody.  It doesn't cost much more, and solves a whole world of problems.  Not to mention making things better for ALL women (ever notice how men's rooms never have a line, while women's rooms are often full? Because they build them the same size....)   One way to argue for it is to use homophobia.  Because people who want group single-gender bathrooms forget about gay people - Insecure men have to use the same bathroom as gay men!   So anybody who's worried about something happening in the bathroom should stay awake at night for many hours thinking that one over.

I keep my expectations realistic.  Some things are easily possible.  Some things may be possible with intense effort.  Some things are impossible.  Best to know the difference, so as not to be disappointed.

Hello! My name is Marceline, I'm 23 years old and I'm pretty sure I'm trans. Marceline is the name I've chosen for myself and it already makes me happier than the name I get called every day. I think that counts for something. There are a variety of reasons I'm unable to come out in my everyday life, but I'm hopeful that this forum will at least give an outlet so I don't feel like crawling out of my skin every five minutes. Think of it as a sort of a pressure valve for me. After a cursory glace at a few of the posts and topics here I already think I made a good decision. Previously I had a Reddit account where I really shared, in the end that ultimately outed me. That was a painful and embarrassing experience which ended up permanently damaging important relationships for me.  I know what I'm doing now is just as dishonest but I'm not in a position where I can blow everything up. Of course I'd adore a new wardrobe, the opportunity to actually learn how to do my makeup, to start HRT, to breathe for once in my life. It occurred to me the other day that I never really look in the mirror if I can help it. It feels like I'm wearing this costume I can't take off, like I'm playing a character of what I think a man is the moment I wake up. It's exhausting. Then somedays it doesn't feel as exhausting and I think that maybe I'm making it up, or that I'm sick, or that it's some kind of idle obsession that doesn't reflect the way I feel. So part of me coming here is also seeking validation, I'm not ashamed to admit that. I need to hear it from another trans person that I'm not going insane, that this is rational. I want to be recognized and called the name I love.    This is new to me but also familiar. I've been down this road before. I know I will find comfort and comradery through the people who make this forum a safe haven for trans people of all kinds. There is a lot more to me but I feel like this a fair introduction to what I've been thinking for the last few months. It's a pleasure to be here and I can't wait to meet all of the lovely people here.   -Marceline

I know. If only this was really only about architecture.    I went to the Padres "Night Out at the Park" - their Pride theme night. I was so surprised to see a gender neutral rest room with a lot of stalls and people peacefully and safely using it.    I looked for it again the next time I went to a game.    They changed the sign to make it back into a ladies only room.    sigh.    -Timi

The simple solution, especially when buidings are built or remodelled, is to make all public bathrooms gender-neutral.  All stalls should have floor-to-ceiling walls, and doors with no gaps.  Put the urinals in stalls, too, or in a separate area.     It's not rocket science.  We have the technology.  They just don't want to do it, because it would remove one mechanism for controlling women.
    • Ivy
I guess I keep my expectations low.

If there are "trans bathrooms"…….   Can cis people use them? (if there are long lines)  Do trans men and trans women use the same ones?  So now we need 4 sets of potties?  Oh, maybe 5 - got to consider the NB folks as well.   At the coffeehouse I go to there is only one for everybody, and so far it's been working out fine for everyone.

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/clyw9qjeq8po   ..."in some circumstances the law also allows trans women (biological men) not to be permitted to use the men's facilities, and trans men (biological women) not to be permitted to use the women's facilities".   Some of this puts trans people in impossible situations, and makes no sense.  So trans women can be barred from women's spaces and men's spaces.  So businesses and schools and public places should create "trans spaces?"  Beware unintended consequences!   Carolyn Marie

I used to think i was mad up at six every morning except Sunday!! I believe footballers train in some forms of classical ballet. The old Legat School has long since gone, it was a large old seminary, complete with church, swimming pool, tennis courts when you went to Legat it was because you were gifted as a child as fees were astronomical. The estate now lies empty and over grown

It has long been a fantasy of mine to have the present "Older Me" go back in time and visit the "Younger Me", and tell that kid a few things!  Young Me would be absolutely shocked and amazed hearing about the things I would actually achieve in my lifetime--things that would have seemed impossible to me from my limited perspective.      And you don't even have to go back that far.  Even 5 years ago, what I'm describing would seem utterly absurd and incomprehensible.  And yet it has happened.    I have been transitioning with feminizing hormones for about 3 years now, and my body has changed drastically.  On a whim I bought this leopard one-piece at Walmart, because I felt I now had the "womanly curves" to make it work.  I took pics, posted them on Reddit, and to my surprise got 120+ upvotes (which I thought was pretty good) and I received many compliments!     This can really mess with your head.  The idea that I, a 59-year-old assigned male at birth could have a body like this that some described as "feminine", "sexy" and "hot"--like a "bathing beauty"--just blows me away!  I'm trying to be modest, and others look better than me, but most people approaching 60 don't tend to look that attractive in a bathing suit.  And I'm sure I would have been one of them!   Given the choice between being a mundane, middle-age male or an exotic, sexy female in a bathing suit, I wholeheartedly choose the latter.  Someone I'm familiar with on another forum who went through a similar transition at the age of 58 created these memes posted below.  They show the shock of discovering the "Future You" is in fact a hot female!  And no doubt the HRT has improved my health in many ways--some people call it a "fountain of youth"!   I felt a little funny about posting this, but I wanted to share my personal experience with you.  I'm curious what people think and whether any of you can relate to my rather unique turn of events!
